What a Week

As anyone reading this blog will probably know we were exhibiting at Future of Web Apps (FoWA) this week. It was a massive effort to get ready for the event, and we were very hopeful for what we could achieve in terms of exposure and leads as a result of it. We couldn’t have dreamed of what we got though.

We all went down on Tuesday to get the stand setup, and after a few hitches, got everything sorted by about 6pm.

Blognation was having it’s launch party the same night, so Phil, Christine & I all headed down to that party for a while, bumping into a bunch of people I’ve met previously.

Carsonified (the organisers of FoWA) were kind enough to let us know where a few of the speakers etc were meeting for a drink before the event, so we then headed to that bar.

We met and had a long chat with both Om Malik (GigaOM), Michael Arrington (Techcrunch) & Matt Mullenweg (WordPress)

as well as a whole pile of people going to the conference (and all the Carsonified team of course).

This left us with high hopes of getting some decent PR from some of the tech blogs. Sure enough, by the time I got back to the hotel, Om Malik had already blogged about it!

The following day (the first day of the conference) the stand was busy right from the word go, and everyone we spoke to was really enthusiastic about FlexiScale.

Phil then did an interview with Mike Butcher from TechCrunch UK, it was after that the madness really started. Around lunchtime the post went up, and the traffic on our website increased by 5000%. People then started coming over to the stand that had seen us on TechCrunch, as well as hearing about us from other people at the conference.

By the end of the conference the next day, we had got at least 150 decent leads, from large and small companies and enquiries from all over the world (especially from America, which surprised us a bit).

We had 6 staff at the stand, yet unbelievably there was a queue on a number of occasions, I’ve never seen anything like it!

So thank you to everyone who took the time to come and see the stand, and meet us, thank you as well to everyone who has enquired online. We will be getting back to everyone in the next week or so to arrange getting access to the platform.

I should of course point out that this is an ideal example of why people would want to use FlexiScale, our traffic has subsided since the various articles were published, but is still setting 100% above normal. Just imagine if your website had fallen over just when you needed it most….

Tony.

What about latency to America? S3 have latency issues to users in the US.
